Kenmore City Council Supports Proposition No. 1

Harborview Medical Center Health and Safety Improvement Bonds

Kenmore, WA – On September 28, 2020, the Kenmore City Council passed a resolution in support of King County Proposition No. 1 Harborview Medical Center Health and Safety Improvement Bonds. The resolution also states that the Kenmore City Council strongly encourages its citizens to approve Proposition No. 1.

Harborview Medical Center provides healthcare for the most vulnerable residents of King County, education, and patient care for a broad spectrum of patients from throughout the region. It is also a Level 1 trauma center and the disaster preparedness and control hospital for Seattle and King County.

The medical center now needs additional capital funding to improve facilities to better serve a growing population, meet changing demands, and maintain modern seismic standards. King County Proposition No. 1 will be on the November general election ballot, where voters will be asked to approve $1.74 billion in general obligation bond funding over 20 years for health and safety improvements.

More information about Proposition No. 1 is available on the King County Elections website.  The resolution passed by the Kenmore City Council is available on the City’s website.

RCW 42.17A.555 authorizes the City Council to take action to collectively express a decision and vote upon a resolution to support or oppose a ballot proposition.
