The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is considering a proposal from the city of Kenmore to lease and renovate the existing ballfield at Saint Edward State Park.
The city’s proposal would renovate the park’s historic grass ball field with artificial turf, lights and bleacher seating. The city originally requested a lease from State Parks in 2015, but concerns over potential environmental, traffic and recreation impacts resulted in the need for an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
State Parks is the lead agency for the EIS process. The EIS will analyze the elements of the environment that could be affected by the proposal along with a range of alternatives. Appropriate mitigation measures will also be identified through the EIS process.
