Doomscrolling Detox: Finding Your Balance in the Digital Age

First in the Kenmore Club's "Dinner and a Discussion" series of monthly talks

From the advent of the internet to recent developments in artificial intelligence, the digital revolution continues to remake our world. While many of the changes have been positive, these innovations have also left many of us trapped in filter bubbles, overloaded with information, mistrustful, anxious, and polarized.

Signs of Doomscrolling

  • Spending excessive, uninterrupted time scrolling through negative content.

  • Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or depressed after using social media.

  • Losing track of time.

  • Constantly refreshing feeds for updates on bad news.

Led by T. Andrew Wahl, a journalist, writer and teacher at Everett Community College, this discussion will explore some of the ways the digital age is transforming interpersonal relationships.

Join us at KCC's monthly "Dinner and Discussion series. Together we can counter this trend in depersonalization by simply getting together and meeting with our friends and neighbors over a meal.

This is the first in the Kenmore Community Club's new series of "Dinner and a Discussion" presentations. Join us for a potluck and discussion of some of the intriguing, interesting and sometimes baffling issues facing us today.
