Principal Planner Todd Hall explained the intricacies of long range planning for Kenmore's future developments to a group at the city's Hangar as part of the Kenmore Community Club's monthly Potlucks with Presentations.

The city's Planning and Community Development Department's staff Principal Planner Todd Hall, Senior Planner Brittnay Chue and Administrative Specialist Shannon Tipple-Leen presented an overview of the department's current and future projects.

Hall presented an overview of the departments planning projects that guide the city's development of everything from housing, to transportation, and parks and open spaces plans. He made the point that much of the department's work is about ensuring the city is in compliance with state law.

Chue talked about the complexity of completing the city's update to its Comprehensive Plan in 2024. The state mandated update represents the community-generated 20-year vision for Kenmore that covers land use, housing, transportation, protection of the natural environment, and parks, recreation and open spaces among many other topics. The department works closely with the citizens' Planning Commission to ensure development reflects the desires of the citizens of Kenmore and balances with the growth projections for the community.

Tipple-Lean leads the event planning and manages the demands for community building events along with citizen requests for use of city parks and other resources.

The potluck was held at the Hangar as the Kenmore Community Club hall had been taken over for the AsIf Theatre's production of "Outside Mullingar."

Next month, Nov. 12, will be back at the Kenmore Community Club, 7304 NE 175th St. You won't want to miss Police Chief Brandon Moen, who will talk about public safety and the range of programs the Police Department is involved in to keep Kenmore safe and improve the quality of life in our city.
