KCRC is excited to offer a Youth Rowing Program at the Kenmore Public Boathouse during the summer months for both rowers aged 13-18. Our programming ranges from Learn to Row classes, introducing new rowers to the sport, to skills clinics and conditioning programs for more experienced athletes. Youth Learn-to-Row ($325)
Tailored for incoming 8th to 12th graders, our program emphasizes the foundational skills of rowing. Participants will not only learn the rowing stroke but also the importance of teamwork as they work together to carry boats and oars. Our experienced coaches guide rowers in safely placing large rowing shells in the water, ensuring a hands-on experience from the very start. We are excited to introduce your child to the basics of rowing, aiming to inspire a lasting passion for the sport that can accompany them through college and beyond. Join us for a journey on the water that cultivates skills, confidence, and camaraderie!
Requirements – be able to hold 30 lbs over head, only incoming 8th – 12th graders

In this program, rowers will have the opportunity to refine their techniques and enhance their performance as they work towards showcasing their progress at one of our KCRC friendlies. Why Row?
Rowing is a total body workout. Rowing only looks like an upper body sport. Although upper body strength is important, the strength of the rowing stroke comes from the legs. Rowing is one of the few athletic activities that involves all of the body’s major muscle groups. It is a great aerobic workout, in the same vein as cross-country skiing and swimming, and is a low-impact sport on the joints.
KCRC will offer adult Learn-to-Row for new rowers this spring and summer on beautiful Lake Washington. We offer small group sessions where you’ll learn both sculling (two oars) and sweep rowing (one oar), practice on the rowing machines, learn the rowing terminology, and join a welcoming community in your area.
