As part of its financial sustainability plan, the Kenmore City Council is considering a new Cable TV utility tax of 6%, to begin in the second half of this year.
The Financial Sustainability Plan is the result of a 2020 task force of Kenmore residents who conducted a community engagement process to create a plan for the City that would provide financial sustainability for the foreseeable horizon.
Based on input from the community, the plan resulted in a combination of reductions in expenditures and implementation of new revenues to make sure the City maintains healthy fund balances. The steps to be taken in the adopted Financial Sustainability Plan are to be phased in over multiple years.
The City Council will likely consider the Cable TV tax in the spring or early summer of this year. Watch the city calendar for council meeting agendas. Unless otherwise posted the meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Monday of the month. As of April 13, 2020, the meetings are being held virtually.
