Brewery to focus on brewing and distribution

In an announcement posted on its website, 192 Brewing owner Derek Wyckoff wrote that the company would close its Lake Trail Taproom that served beer and food with inside and outside dining at the end of January 2026.

"We’re transforming our focus toward brewing, sales, distribution, pop-up events, and festivals," the announcement said. "As part of this transformation, we are intentionally winding down operations at the 192 Lake Trail Taproom, with a celebratory grand finale week of events in January. This shift allows the 192 brand to travel further, stay nimble, and continue supporting community in new and meaningful ways."

Opened in 2009, 192 Brewing and Lake Trail Taproom was Kenmore's first brew pub and began the growth of Kenmore's brewery row, which included 192 Brewing, Cairn Brewing, (now Postdoc Brewery) and Nine Yards Brewing on 175th NE near 73rd Avenue NE. Wyckoff named the company after the 192 square foot shed in his backyard, where he started his brewery.

Wyckoff's vision was to create a gathering space that brought neighbors together. He was largely successful in that endeavor opening up the outdoor dining area that featured many fledgling bands, some of whom were given their first public shows. In 2024, Wyckoff was the driver behind the Kenmore Oktoberfest, which has become an annual community-wide event. For his community support work, Wyckoff was honored with the McMaster Award in 2023 by the Kenmore Heritage Society.

In his announcement, Wyckoff says he intends to stay true to that vision, stating that the change to focusing on brewing will allow "the 192 brand to travel further, stay nimble, and continue supporting the community in new and meaningful ways."

The announcement says the brewery will continue at its original 192-square-foot brewery

with its Shticky Blonde Ale as its flagship beer. In addition, Wyckoff remains committed to Kenmore and the community.
