The Northshore Utility District is warning residents of Kenmore to not flush disposable wipe as they are clogging sewer lines.
Do to the surge in the use of disinfectant wipes associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, utility companies all over the country are struggling with an increased number of clogged sewer lines resulting from people flushing materials that interfere with the sewage system.
The problem is, even though many of the manufacturers label their wipes as flushable, they don’t break down in the the sewer line, as a result disposable wipes have become the #1 cause sewer backups.
