Kenmore passes ordinance allowing citizen initiatives

At the Monday, July 11 meeting, the Kenmore City Council adopted Ordinance 22-0549, allowing local citizens to directly enact or repeal legislation through the powers of initiative and referendum. Going forward, the people of Kenmore will be able to propose or challenge ordinances with the requirement of a petition signed by at least 15% of the city’s registered voters to get on the ballot. Kenmore joins over 60 Washington cities who have already adopted these powers.
